The wood leads
We choose the board before we choose the form. The grain has an opinion and we listen.
About the studio
A studio in Lagos
WoodAccent began with a single oak bench made in a friend's garage in Yaba. The bench sold the same week. The second one took longer; we wanted it to be better.
Six years later we are twelve people under one roof in Somolu, making furniture for homes and full interiors for residences and developments. The two practices feed each other — what we learn in a commission becomes a piece in the collection, and back again.
We work in African walnut, white oak and iroko, sourced and dried in-house. We don't outsource joinery. We don't ship anything we wouldn't keep.
Four principles
I
We choose the board before we choose the form. The grain has an opinion and we listen.
II
Design, joinery, finishing, install — all under one team. The piece you receive is the piece we drew.
III
Twelve weeks, not twelve days. We build for the next forty years, not the next photograph.
IV
Every piece carries a lifetime repair note. Send it back; we'll send it home.
